Recipe: Yummy Chili con carne

Ingredients of Chili con carne

  1. Prepare 400 kg of mince.
  2. It's 1/2 small of chopped onion.
  3. You need 1 clove of garlic.
  4. It's 1 small of red chilli.
  5. You need 1/4 of green pepper.
  6. Prepare 1/2 of red pepper.
  7. You need 1 can of kidney beans.
  8. Prepare 1 can of chopped tomatoes.
  9. You need 1 tbsp of olive oil.
  10. You need 1 of beef oxo.

In the same pot, heat oil; saute onions until tender. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate and let cool, then crumble and set aside. Stir in remaining ingredients except beans. Add the meat and any accumulated juices to the pot.

Chili con carne instructions

  1. Put oil in a large pan (ideally frying pan with lid) and heat oil.
  2. When oil is hot add mince to start to brown.
  3. When half way browned - add onion and chilli.
  4. When mince browned add garlic.
  5. Drain kidney beans and add to pan, mix in and leave to fry for a minute.
  6. Add chopped pepper to pan.
  7. Add chopped tomatoes.
  8. Stir and add beef oxo.
  9. Put on lid and leave to simmer on high heat - stirring as necessary until cooked.
  10. Serve! Add rice or jacket potato as preferred (allow extra cooking time for these).

Season the chili with salt and pepper to taste, and stew the meat with a cover slightly. Pour this into the pan with the mince mixture. Maybe I'm not too adventurous with my chile con carne but I really wanted a good traditional recipe and the spices were just off. Pour onto a work surface and using a small, heavy skillet, crush them coarsely. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
